Love Acting Students Find Their Stride in Reelcase 2026/Photoshoot
My Baton Rouge film acting school Love Acting had its first Reelcase— a series of short scenes that students performed in, filmed on a real set, movie-style and edited into a professional reel they can use on their social media and acting reel.
When you’re kicking off a small business there’s always an initial investment. Actors, when they first get started have no idea how to kick off the business of acting. Most actors are passionate about the craft, and don’t realize that half of becoming a professional actor means you have to launch a small business. This business is unique because it requires unique assets. The assets that actors are required to have are: acting headshots, clips- or shall we say ‘reels’ of them actually acting in scenes from films that they’ve been in. The catch 22 is that it’s impossible to get roles unless you have footage of yourself acting. The first question an agent will ask you is: do you have headshots and do you have reel footage? So having worked with acting students for 10 years and watching them struggle to kick off their acting career, we realized they needed our help through content creation.
We decided to start creating reel footage for our actors as a way to help them get their foot in the door in an industry that has a small entrance way. We also wanted to give our actors an on-set experience that felt like what it feels like to be on a real set. Sometimes on a real set your’re shooting late at night or your forced to move quickly or they’re trying to rush you because everyone wants to break for lunch or there’s horrible weather where you have to wait a long time. We wanted our students to get a reality feel of what working on a set is actually like. So this year, in 2026, we hired a real cinematographer, a few crew members, got a location, and we shot their reels on-location. The reels premiered in April at Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge and in New Orleans at The Broad Theater. It was a huge hit.
For the past 5 years we have provided a professional photoshoot for our actors prior to the Showcase. They not only get time in front of the camera, which is important, but they also are creating a new headshot that they can use on Actor’s Access, or any other type of casting profile— which a crucial part of creating their acting business. Check out some of the photos from the 2026 Reelcase photo shoot shot by my husband Aaron Hogan, owner of Eye Wander Photo. The theme was ‘90s grunge and our actors nailed it.
